Parenting: 5 Tips To Stimulate Your Kids’ Brain Development

Parenting, to a large extent, determines what a child can be as an adult and must be taken seriously. One aspect of parenting that many parents shy away from is mental development. This article teaches parents how to stimulate their kid’s brain development.

A Two-Year-Old Genius

Recently, I watched a two-year-old genius solve incredible mathematics problems on TikTok. The kid is so good that he has millions of followers, and some of his posts have millions of views and thousands of comments. I checked the comments, and one that caught my attention was a lady asking how to train her kid to be as good as the two-year-old genius.

Can any kid be Trained to Become a Genius?

Absolutely. Research in parenting and early child development shows that every child is born with the potential to be a genius. While some children may have a head start due to their genetic makeup, the right mental development can unlock the genius in every child.

Unfortunately, many kids do not gain enough intellectual development to become geniuses. Parents play a crucial role in this journey. By understanding and implementing the right tips, parents can empower their children to become brilliant both in childhood and adulthood.

Vital Parenting Tips to Trigger Your Kid’s Brain Development

  • Parents should start reading children’s books to their kids daily before they turn one. When kids turn three, they should be encouraged to read a simple children’s book daily and progress to more challenging ones as they grow and read better. This early engagement is a proactive step that can significantly impact a child’s intellectual development, sparking their creativity and imagination and fostering a love for reading, making it easier for them to learn other subjects.
  • Engaging kids in dialogue from the moment they are born and making efforts to understand them triggers ample intellectual development in them. When kids know their parents make efforts to understand them, they speak clearly. Such kids also develop language skills and have more significant brain activity and verbal attitudes.
  • Teaching children mathematics in their early years helps develop their cognitive abilities in problem-solving, creative reasoning, deductive reasoning, and inductive thinking. It also guarantees their future success in mathematics and, in some cases, reading (Duncan et al., 2007).
  • Attending a music lesson or listening to music frequently helps kids boost their concentration, memory, and learning ability and experience faster brain development.
  • Feeding a kid enough animal protein, such as meat, fish, and eggs, helps improve their reasoning and concentration. Further, carbohydrate diets like whole grains help energise a child’s reasoning.

Every parent should take parenting seriously. How a child is trained in their early years determines what they can be in the future (Proverbs 22:6) and affects whether their relationships and marriages will be blissful.

There’s a great advantage when parents start on time to teach their children and engage them early .
I started from when my baby was in the womb to read and listen to music. To my surprise, some of the songs I listened to when she was in the womb, she always pay attention to it whenever she hears it play.

Very inspiring,. Spending time with your child will not only enhance your child’s mental wellbeing, it will help your child know that you love and value their company. They will learn that their interests are important and this will help build their confidence.

I am privileged to know young visionaries who redefine the boundaries of brilliance. Their talents are not merely impressive—they are transformative. I am amazed by a 7-year-old whose artistic creations reveal a world of beauty and imagination beyond their years, and a 14-year-old whose mastery of mathematics illuminates patterns and possibilities that many of us might overlook. These remarkable individuals, whether within my family or among my friends, demonstrate that each person has a unique light to shine. They challenge me to think differently and inspire me to reach for new heights. Their extraordinary abilities remind us that every person has a special gift, and it is our collective duty to recognize, celebrate, and nurture these unique contributions.

Do you create time to teach your kids?

Proverbs 22:6 reminds us of the profound responsibility we bear as parents: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This timeless vital role filled with wisdom guides our children, not just for their personal growth but for the health and happiness of our families and marriages. In my own life, I make it a priority to spend quality time teaching my kids, focusing on the core values and principles that will anchor them amidst life’s inevitable challenges. By nurturing their development and instilling resilience, I strive to ensure that they are well-prepared to navigate the world with wisdom and integrity, ultimately they will persevere with confidence from what they learnt and the experiences they had, which in turn create them a more harmonious and fulfilling family life.
